İsmail Yavuz Özkaya
İsmail Yavuz Özkaya received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1983 and a Master of Science in Restoration in 1987 from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara. Following graduation, he worked as an architect and project coordinator at various architectural design companies. He lived in Ithaca NY between 1991 and 1995 and attended the Graduate Program in Art and Art History Program of SUNY Binghamton. Özkaya started his office specializing in design and historic preservation in 1995. He prepared historic preservation projects for a wide range of sites and monuments in addition to his architectural design work. Since 2006, he is working at Ani archeological site, documenting and preparing historic preservation projects for its different monuments. Currently he is managing the conservation works of Surp Amenap’rkich Church and the Cathedral of Ani in collaboration with World Monuments Fund and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism; and working on his contribution to a monograph of Surp Amenap’rkich Church by Armen Kazaryan.
Silvyo OvadyaVice Chair
1955 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. 1978’de İTÜ Elektronik ve Haberleşme Mühendisliği Bölümünden mezun oldu. 1986 – 2004 yılları boyunca Şalom Gazetesi’nde Genel Yayın Koordinatörü görevini üstlendi. “Osmanlı’da Yahudi Kıyafetleri” sergisinin küratörlüğünü ve kitabının yapımcılığını üstlendi. Uzun yıllar İstanbul’da Yahudi Kültürü Avrupa Günü’nün düzenlenmesine öncülük etti. Avrupa Yahudi Kongresi (EJC) ve Yahudi Cemaatleri Avrupa Konseyi (ECJC) gibi kuruluşlarda Yönetim Kurulu üyeliği görevlerinde bulundu. Türkiye’deki Musevilerin kültürü dil ve tarihleri üzerine araştırmalar yapmakta olan Sefarad Kültür Araştırmalar Derneği’nin 2006 yılında kurulmasına önayak oldu. Çok sayıda dergide makale ve araştırma yazıları yayınlandı. 2004 – 2010 yılları süresince Türk Yahudi toplumu başkanlığı görevini üstlendi.
Prof. Nevzat Atlığ ile Klasik Türk Müziğinde Musevi Bestekarlar CD’si ile Sefarad müziğin günümüzde yaşamını sürdürmesi için çok sayıda CD’nin yapımını üstlendi. Daniel Barenboim yönetimindeki Doğu Batı Divanı’nın konseriyle Cem Mansur yönetimindeki Ulusal Gençlik Orkestrası’nın Murray Perahia eşliğindeki konserlerinin düzenlenmesine katkıda bulundu.
Yenilendikten sonra tekrar ibadethane ve gezilecek tarihi bir mekan olarak hayat bulan Edirne Büyük Sinagogu’ndaki konser ve sergileri düzenleyen komisyona önderlik eden Silvyo Ovadya, çeşitli kültürel faaliyetlerin hayata geçmesi içinde muhtelif çalışmalara katılmaktadır. Kültürel Mirası Koruma Derneği’nin yanısıra Anadolu Kulübü Ankara Merkez Yönetim Kurulu ve Ayrıca Adalar Kent Konseyi Yönetim Kurulu üyesidir.
Born in Istanbul in 1984, Dr. Zakar recieved her bachelor’s degree in architecture from Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts in 2009 and her master’s degree in historical building conservation from Istanbul Technical University in 2013. She completed her PhD in MSUFA Faculty of Architecture, Building Construction Programme in 2018. She has been working as team member and consultant in various restoration and construction projects in Paris and in Istanbul since 2009, and has been involved with several NGO organizations engaged with the conservation of cultural heritage. Currently she is working as a teaching member at MSUFA Faculty of Architecture and is the co-founder of Archista Architects.
Laki Vingas is an entrepreneur managing his own export-import business since 1983. Born in 1961, he received his degree from the Technical University of Yildiz in Istanbul with a degree as a naval mechanical engineer. As a member of the Greek minority of Istanbul, he has been very active in the social affairs of his community, including active participation in Greek minority cultural organizations.
In 2010, he was among the initiators and founders of the Association for the Support of the Greek Community’s Foundations (Rumvader), which coordinates the activities of all 69 foundations of the Greek minority in Turkey. He served as president of Rumvader from January of 2011 until December of 2012. He has participated in many conferences with topics ranging from religious freedom and Turkey’s bridge to the European Union, the role of minority foundations in Turkey, and the experience of a minority person living in Turkey.
After graduating from Istanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Art History Department in 1993, she completed her MA education in Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences with the thesis on “Armenian Churches in Galata and Pera” in 1996. She received her PhD degree from Istanbul University Art History Department with the thesis titled “Istanbul School in Armenian Miniature Art” in 2000.
Between 2004-2010, she worked as a lecturer at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. She was the culture&art consultant and curator of the photo exhibition “The Role of the Balyan Family in Ottoman Architecture” in 2007. Her work on “Kayseri Armenian Cultural Heritage” which was prepared as an output of Kayseri field study conducted by KMKD and Hrant Dink Foundation jointly, was awarded the gold medal and first prize in 2016 by the Armenian Ministry of Urban Planning in the “Yerevan Biennial”.
She has published several articles, book chapters, translations and has presented papers in various national and international symposiums on Armenian art, history and architecture within the context of cultural plurality of Anatolia throughout the ages. In addition to KMKD, she is the founder and board member of the Şirince Archeology Association, the founding member of the Sivas Armenians and Friends Association, and a member of the Armenian Architects and Engineers Association (HAYCAR)
Born in İstanbul, she received her education at Pangaltı Lisesi, English High school and the American College for Girls respectively. She received her B.A/ M.A architectural degree from th eIstanbul Academy of Fine Arts (MSGSU) in 1976,vc
She started her architectural practice as an intern in 1974 and after graduating she further increased her architectural experience as the head of the design team at Izgi-Demirken-Muslubaş Architectural Office until 1982.
She founded AS IMAR & TIC LTD (ASIMAR) with Prof. Ali Muslubaş in 1984. As a senior partner leading the architectural design team, she provided corporate, institutional and private clients with assistance in analysis and strategic planning, architectural and interior design, construction administration and execution of Works. She has paricipated in various architectural competitions with the Asimar design team. She has worked in the restoration and revitaliztion Project of the Aghtamar Church in Van with a group of volunteer Armenian Architects and led and executed volunteer projects for Vakıflı Köy/ Hatay. Lately she has been working on revitalization projects at Balat, Galata and Kumkapı districts in Istanbul.
As a founding member of HAYCAR (Association of Armenian Architect & Engineers) and KMKD she has participated and worked in various projects with a group of architects and art historians in Anatolia. She is a member of Istanbul Chamber of Architects since 1977.
He studied architecture at ITU and had his MSc. at the same university on restoration. Between 1998-2000 Altan worked at History Foundation on various cultural heritage projects and between 2008-2010 worked as the general director at Cultural Awareness Foundation. Became the founding secretary general of Europa Nostra Turkey after undertaking activity coordinator position for the Europa Nostra annual congress held in Istanbul in June 2010. After executing some surveying projects from 2010 to 2013 acted as the project coordinator of the project titled “LIMEN: Cultural Ports from Aegean to the Black Sea” from October 2013 to December 2015. Between 2016-2020 he worked as the administrative coordinator of Koç University Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for Late Antique and Byzantine Studies (GABAM). Currently he is a PhD researcher at Brandenburg University of Technology.
